SM3 is a cryptographic hash function published by the State Cryptography Administration of China and is also known as the commercial cryptographic SM3 algorithm. The "SM" represents "commercial cryptography," which refers to cryptographic technology for commercial use that does not involve state secrets. It is based on the elliptic curve discrete logarithm problem and is used to replace insecure hash algorithms such as MD5 and SHA-1. The output length of the SM3 algorithm is 256 bits, the same as SHA-256.
